The Art of Ascension
"You have day-to-day events in your life. There are numerous situations and people, especially your family, that may cause you worry and stress. You might be worried about your child's report card. You might be worried about paying bills. You might be worried that your relationship is strained. All of these instances and more, are a part of who you are.
So the question becomes ‘how do you deal with your day-to-day worries and yet, walk into the world of the dying with complete presence?’ How do you quiet you mental chatter? How can you focus your energy to be fully present?
There are infinite ways to quiet your mind. One of my favorites is to have a sacred box— a literal box—that can be anything from a shoe box to a beautiful hand-carved box. Perhaps you keep this in your car—easy access, easy to remember. After you park the car, but before you get out, visualize putting your worried in your sacred box. You may literally write them down or you may place them there in thought...."
"Ask yourself:
What would my box look like?
Am I willing to experiment with this idea?
Do I see value in this?"
